US Navy challenges Beijing’s South China Sea claims, gets angry reaction

China has many disputing territories around its main territory. Taiwan, Paracel islands in South Chin Sea, and Senkaku islands in East China Sea must be the most famous disputing territories. When it comes to Taiwan and sourrounding islands including Matsu and Jinmen, some people on the islands are protesting against China's intension to govern the islands. For example, if you go to Chinatown in San Francisco, you will see many flags of Republic of China, which currently governs Taiwan and sourrounding islands including Matsu and Jinmen.
But, most of the islands in South and East China Sea are desert islands, which means that there are few people who want to recover the territories from China.
So, it will be difficult for Western nations to let China withdraw from these islands.
