To let trackless trams run safely, it's important to maintain white lines which guide trams. But, it's nearly impossible to do that, when we consider that snowfall covers the white lines and heavy rain or strong wind can carry mud or trees on the white lines.
So, I think trackless tram won't be common around the world.
