There are more and more catenary-free trams around the world. I guess it shows the technological development of storing electricity is advanced. And, it can also be a threat for category manufacturers, because less and less urban trains use catenaries.
But, judging from huge demand of high speed rail which cannot use catenary-free system so far, it won't affect catenary manufacturers.
