List of my travel diary My train photoes The other contents

I knew a reason of 1432mm gauge

The detail is written in the comments of yesterday's diary.
Until today, I thought that 1432mm gauge MTR in Hong Kong adopts is different from 1435mm gauge. 1435mm gauge is common in Japan, and is called "standard gauge". Actually, Shinkansen and some major private railways in Japan adopts 1435mm gauge.
But, 1432mm gauge was so rare that I've heard no railway company uses the gauge.

Today, I knew that the difference between 1432 mm gauge and 1435 mm gauge is caused by the shape and inclination of rails. and another rumor says tracks on concrete roadbed is 1432mm ,and tracks on ballast is 1435mm.

By the way, I've taken a train on 762mm, 1000mm, 1067mm, 1372mm, 1432mm, and 1435mm gauge.
