Toyama Chiho Railway and Hokuriku Railway decided to abolish the Express Bus between Kanazawa and Toyama. The last operation date is March 15, just before extension of Hokuriku Shinkansen to Tsuruga.
The total number of the services is 14 for each direction. The bus has so solid demand as to not only connect Toyama Station and Kanazawa Station, but also connect downtowns and famous facilities in both of the cities.
The reason for abolition is long lasting chronic shortage of bus operators. More strict labor rules will be applied to bus operators from April 1 such as upper limits of working hours and lower limits of rest time. In addition to it, difficulty to get more staff makes it more difficult to maintain local bus services.
So, they decided to abolish Toyama-Kanazawa route, because there are abundant of alternative public transportation methods and huge reduction of users since before-Covid era.

Japanese government decided to allow people with foreign background to take examinations in their languages. I wish this could help solve the issue.
