The assembly held a debate forum. They announced their opinion that extension of Hokuriku Shinkansen should be canceled and current Hokuriku Main Line should be developed. Hokuriku Shinkansen between Nagano and Kanazawa is scheduled to open in 2014, while Hokuriku Shinkansen between Kanazawa and Tsuruga has been waiting to be allowed construction by Ministry of Land Infrastructure and Transportation.
They are against construction of Hokuriku Shinkansen on the following reasons.
・Construction of Hokuriku Shinkansen costs a lot
・Present limited express train will be abandoned after opening of Hokuriku Shinkansen
・Hokuriku Main Line will be separated from JR west.
And they concluded "we can't maintain local public transportation!"
Their plan is that high speedization of Hokuriku Main Line by improvement of diagram and railway tracks is favored to develop local public transportation.

I think that Shinkansen should be constructed under the condition that parallel railway line has a congested train schedule. Otherwise, high speedization of parallel railway line is favored.
