Why do they connect Lisboa and Porto without intermediate stop?

I'm surprised at the plan of the train service between Lisboa and Porto without any stop. The distance between two stations is more than 280km. And, travel time between these two cities is 2 hours and 30 minutes. It means average speed is 112km/h. The speed is rapid, if it's an ordinary railway. But, it's not rapid, if it's a high speed railway.
