Initial inauguration section is just between Merced and Bakersfield. So, the traveling time won't be reduced even after the initial inauguration. It will be possible to move these two cities with an hour and half.
But, when we consider time to get to Merced from San Francisco and to get to Bakersfield from Los Angeles, it won't be competitive even against vehicles.
The railway should be extended to San Francisco and Los Angeles soon.
