Monorail was once treated as futuristic transportation. When I watched "Thunderbird", a movie describing an international rescue team in 2065, New York became the city with monorail networks and there are ruins of subway tunnels.
Also in Japan, there was a plan to build an intercity monorail line, the length of which was 100km.
But now, Bus Rapid Transit or automatic car replaced its position.
