Though recent policies of Chinese government are usually criticized, what must be criticized more intensely would be Great Leap Forward Era and Cultural Revolution Era. During these eras, tens of million innocent people were killed or starved to death.
But, considering that few foreigners could record the situation in those days, it would be difficult to show how tragedy those eras were.
