What traditional buildings can teach architects about sustainability

Explicitly, concrete buildings with wide windows are not suitable for high humidity and high temperature in East Asia. Such a structure can easily catch sunlight and warms room temperature up and finally results in excess energy consumption by air conditioning.
But, the most difficult thing about that is to find what the specific structures are and apply it to modern buildings.
