A researcher in my laboratory visited a website advertising textbooks for learning English. To strengthen trust in the website, opinions of the examinees were written on the website. But the researcher doubted opinions are really stated.
He began to retrieve the names and academic careers whose opinions are on the website. Judging from the results of his research, we found the following facts.
First, some opinions did not coincide with the names of examinees.(In other words, some examinees doesn't exist)
Second, the other opinions are really stated by living examinees. But, they have highest academic careers or have been abroad for a long time. So, they can speak English fluently to some extent even without such textbooks.
We concluded that no examinee has difficulty in using English and this lacks evidence for supporting the dramatical effects of the textbooks. I believe there aren't any easy way to improve English skills. Be careful not to be deceived by evil websites.
