Why is it suffering for libraries to survive?

edition.cnn.com

The main function of library had been source of information before invention of media and Internet. But, especially after expansion of Internet, its worth has been comparatively declining. So, libraries have to think about how to survive in this era.
Many kinds of industries are currently collaborating with Internet. Then, libraries also have to make use of the Internet, though it would be one of the enemies for them.
So, it's one of the strategies that they offer free Wi-Fi service in the libraries.
In addition to it, by making libraries bigger and bigger, it's possible to cover what's not written on the Internet.
To sum up, free Internet and bigger libraries will be one of the ways for them to survive.

(Translation)
On April 29, Nagoya City revealed that the authority is going to initiate actual step to launch a new station between Nagoya and Fushimi on Municipal Subway Higashiyama Line. Takashi Kawamura, Mayor of the city, stated "I'd like to include concrete budget for it in the next fiscal year.", meaning that he showed required money to launch the new station in the budget of the year 2018. He aims at making the station breakthrough for re-development.
He said "opening of Chūō Shinkansen is the chance to revive Nagoya ever since.", and insisted the city would like to focus on re-development by saying "We have to invest sufficiently,"
The planned location is near Nayabashi under re-development and eastern side of Nagoya Station with a bunch of skyscrapers. The station was planned in 1940s or 50s. Structures preparing for the new station remains. On the other hand, there are a couple of problems like ensuring land for the station and a lot of cost for construction, because Yanagibashi Market stands near the site.
The mayor addressed he intends to visit the site for launching the station. He once visited there in 2014 to investigate viability.

It's common in Japan to see inauguration of new intermediate stations on JR lines, private railway lines, or railways operated by third sectors. But, I've never seen it was built in municipal subway lines. This case is so rare that many rail fans are interested in the news.

Why doesn't Amtrak need additional train service?

Amtrak should focus on medium-distance corridors, says Anderson
http://www.railwaygazette.com/news/single-view/view/amtrak-should-focus-on-medium-distance-corridors-says-anderson.html

As Anderson says, Amtrak should focus on intercity service within 500km. It's the longest distance for trains to be able to be competitive with air service.
In terms of promoting modal shift from vehicles, Amtrak can be competitive with vehicles within 100km on the condition that train frequency is satisfactory.

In addtion to them, planned high speed trains should be operated by Amtrak to increase revenue of Amtrak.

Why Korea summit is also interesting for rail fan?

edition.cnn.com

For travellers like me, one of the most interesting thing is possibility to travel in N.Korea without accompanied guidance after unification of both Korea.
Especially, trains running through between North and South are expected to begin.
More than 10 years ago, freight trains has run between North and South. But, regular passenger trains have never run.
That's because through service on Gyeongyi Line was taken up in Korea summit.

Why don't you take the brand-new intercity trains in New Zealand?

Rail boost in Auckland transport plan
http://www.metro-report.com/news/suburban-commuter/single-view/view/rail-boost-in-auckland-transport-plan-1.html

I was surprised at the quote "MOT and Waikato Regional Council’ to look at the viability of running longer-distance commuter services between Auckland and Hamilton."

New Zealand didn't focus on intercity trains, while it has strengthened commuter rails around mega cities.
But this plan seems to be different from the way railway industry of New Zealand has done.
I'm looking forward to seeing the frequency, where to stop, electric train or diesel train.

Why do kids check their weight?

Kids as young as 5 concerned about body image
https://edition-m.cnn.com/2015/02/13/living/feat-body-image-kids-younger-ages/index.html

I remember that girls in my classroom were embarrassed to show their results of physical strength check, when I was younger than 10. That's because it included weight data.
It means that they had already been able to concern about their shape through weight data, instead of how they actually look.

That's affected by their mothers, who measures their weight everyday?
We can't look down on their observation skills.
