Rail boost in Auckland transport plan

I was surprised at the quote "MOT and Waikato Regional Council’ to look at the viability of running longer-distance commuter services between Auckland and Hamilton."
New Zealand didn't focus on intercity trains, while it has strengthened commuter rails around mega cities.
But this plan seems to be different from the way railway industry of New Zealand has done.
I'm looking forward to seeing the frequency, where to stop, electric train or diesel train.
