Why is it the hypothesis with high possibility?

A now-dry branch of the Nile helped build Egypt’s pyramids, new study says

Waterway is one of the oldest transportation. So, if there is a huge ruin, materials were highly transported along waterway. So, the hypothesis that stones used for pyramids were transported via the now-dry branch of the Nile could have happened.
I wish more evidence supporting the hypothesis could be found.
