Singapore Airlines to fly A380 on 60-minute flight

Amid extremely limited international air routes, there are many surplus A380 aircrafts.
But, I don't know whether it's cost effective or not to use A380 aircrafts on short-haul air routes. So, I can't judge if it's correct decision.
