Why is faster monorail needed?

Faster monorail won't be interesting, because it must be slower than high speed rail. The monorail on trial can run at most 100km/h. It's slower than train on ordinary rail.
But, in mountainous cities, monorail is one of the most important transportations. Especially in bigger cities surrounded by steep mountains, conventional monorail would be too slow for commuters from suburban cities. So, even if development of faster monorail is not interesting, it will be necessary for those cities. I guess a typical example is Chongqing City.
