Before Tokyo Olympic games in this summer, Kanagawa Prefecture is to remove the ship illegally tied up to the riverside of Nakamura river near Yokohama Stadium, the venue of the games in Naka Ward in Yokohama.
Though it's being more dangerous as the ship begins to sink, the owner is still unknown. Then, the prefecture government owes to the removal cost, which is estimated to be 71.3 million yen, as deputy owner based on the River Law. The government is going to continue improvement procedures along the river on safety and scenery with involved agencies.

Bureau of administrating river in Yokohama and Kawasaki, the agency in charge of the river, says this ship is tied up to the riverside of Nakamura around Nishi-no-hashi bridge near Ishikawa-cho station at least since 1997. It's 33.5 meters long and 9.2 meters wide, and used as a bureau. Ladder was also illegally jointed.

A male on the ship had been witnessed. But, it's been unmanned since 4 years ago, and the owner has been unknown. The ship occupies nearly half of the width of the river, and begins to sink. That's why it disturbs transportation on the river as well as dangerous.

Removal work is scheduled to end at the end of March. The ship is to be separated to throw away. In the case of discovering the owner, he/she will be charged the removal cost.

After the removal work, the government plans to build water-related facilities there to take advantage of its site near tourist attractions like Yokohama China Town or Motomachi. Wider application of water transportation is envisaged as tour ships from Yokohama Port or Haneda Airport. From now on, the government raises alert against water motorcycle users or ships with harbor police.

Just after WW2, there had been many ships like water hotels. But this is the last one.
