As you see the linked map above, it is interesting that 6 intermediate stations on the operated section are still under construction.
Though it is often the case with Asian subways that new metro opens without completion of the intermediate stations, it's the extreme example.
Another extreme example of Tehran Metro is the distance between Shahr-e Forudgahi-e Imam Khomeini Metro Station and its neighboring station. It's nearly 20 km. I wonder why there is no intermediate station.
