Judging from the fact that opening date was officially announced just one month before its date, construction processes should have had a lot of difficulties.
Anyway, I guess it's more than needed to build 15 platforms at West Kowloon station. That's because current trains between Hong Kong and Mainland China use just oneplatform. (Furthermore, current trains will keep the current timetable, even after inauguration of high speed rails.)
