Islamic extremists like forcing others to obey their own way of praying may appear in areas whose climate is hard.
For example, though there are a couple of small conflicts between Islamic group and local governments, South East Asian countries don't have serious political issue related with Islam. I think that's because those areas are filled with tropical forest and then it's not hard climate. It means there is no necessity to live with religious belief.
But, Middle East Asia, where most of its area is desert, has hard climate. And then, residents have to have strong religious belief to tolerate with hard climate.
