In Japan, 14 railway companies plan to install platform screen doors at 285 stations

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism reported it on Feb 8th.
Platform screen doors are installed one after another to prevent passengers from falling off the platform onto the lower track area. In foreign countries, they are introduced mainly on new metro lines.
But, few railway companies in Japan adapt them to their stations. This is because Japan has many railway lines on which many kinds of trains run. Precisely speaking, the location of doors depends on the kind of train. So, if they would like to install platform screen doors, they have to alter trains whose location of the doors is not suited to platform screen doors.

Then, Akihiro Ohata, who is in charge of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism(大畠国交相) instructed to search the possibiliy of installing platform screen doors, when he heard the news that a blind male fell off the platform onto the track area and was killed by being run over.
But, due to the reason shown above, many railway companies haven't yet decided when to install platform screen doors.

I think that the rope platform screen door will be suited to Japanese stations. It can ensure almost all the
space for passengers getting on and off. So, railway companies can install it without careing about the kind of the train. Now, it is installed only at Nokdong station(鹿洞駅), Gwangju(光州広域市), Korea. See the picture of it
