Though many people will be surprised at the way in which sculpture was treated, I guess it's often the case with people surrounded by historic ruins. They are not afraid of preserving historic ruins. For example, Some parts in Osaka and Nara are full of tombs of emperors. But, most of them are not prepared for tourist attractions.
