When tragedy in Shanghai is repeated in other cities simultaneously, anger of lockdowned people will explode. In that case, President Xi will divert people's anger to other political issues.
One scenario we can imagine is that he attributes surge of Covid to Hong Kong, where Covid prevention act is not as severe as Mainland China.
To deprive Hong Kong of all of the autonomous status, Chinese Communist Party can abolish border between Mainland and Hong Kong, and rearrange the political system of the city as an ordinary city in Guang Dong Province.
Another scenario is that state media in Mainland China takes up Ukraine as 'Future of Taiwan', and tries to invade Taiwan under propaganda that CCP is responsible to protect Taiwan from US.
Anyway, any result of zero-Covid policy won't be happier one.
