The digital Iron Curtain: How Russia's internet could soon start to look a lot like China's

Free internet made it possible to learn what happens outside the country. It means politicians cannot tell a lie about overseas. But, if the government removes outsider unflattering contents like China or Russia, the advantage of the internet will no more be lost.
So, I wonder if it is possible to deprive them of controling internet contents.
