Was the US gamble on releasing Ukraine intelligence worth it?

Releasing intelligence to public seems to be dangerous. As the article says it can also reveal how US obtained the intelligence. If US wants to release it to discourage Russia, US should have leaked it to Ukrainian authorities secretly.
And public action should be limited to dispatch army to Ukraine.
