Full opening of Tuen Ma Line will relieve congestion of the train on East Rail Line between Tai Wai and Hung Hom.
On the other hand, journey time is too long. From the east terminal Wu Kai Sha to the west terminal Tuen Mun, it takes 73 minutes to run 57 kilometers. So, average speed is 47 km/h. There should be rapid train on Tuen Ma Line, though there wouldn't be competitive transportation.
