Some people say Hong Kong will lose political liberty until citizens obey Beijing as many main islanders do. But, the biggest difference between Hong Kong and Mainland China is whether they have experienced democracy. The latter has never enjoyed decent democracy. So, many people don't know what democracy is like. It's one of the difficulties to persuade them into democratic movement.
On the other hand, Hong Kong enjoyed democracy under UK's law. So, its sense of liberty will be passed down by word of mouth.
