Though the article says "kodokishi" for meaning "dying alone" in Japanese, its real spelling is "kodokushi".
In Japan, even though there is a system to financially aid poor family like this, it is supposed to be embarrassing or arrogant to apply for that system. It means that diligent people tend to fall onto the hole of the system.
So, officials should investigate who needs help.
