Why does it hit Korean Peninsula?

South and North Korea brace for two typhoons within a week

It's not often the case with Korean Peninsula that typhoon makes landfall there.
Typhoon usually hits Okinawa and somewhere in western part of Japan. Since Okinawa gets used to have torrential rain and strong wind, it's rare to hear devastating damage in Okinawa. But, many parts of Western Japan are not fully prepared for typhoon. Conventional railways and roads are susceptible to that.
