I cannot help but to say that these plans are childish ones.
If elevators lifting vehicles and tunnels where vehicles are running with high speed cost less than current ordinary roads, why aren't there many underground roads in many cities around the world?
And, if the automatically operated vehicles where a few passengers are riding are feasible, I don't know why automatic buses cannot exist. Bus must transport people more efficiently with less energy, unless there are few passengers.
Designers of these systems should consider demand of transportation in US cities.
