It's a good example of those who can't see the entire system.
When we consider that if New Zealand stops producing crude oil, the country has to import that from foreign countries. It doesn't make sense that more oil will be consumed to import oil.
If New Zealand wants to reduce oil consumption, the country has to find out alternative energy source or ways to lower energy consumption.
Otherwise, the policy to halt oil production will result in failure.
