Japan had long had no specifical food to celebrate Christmas until emerge of Kentucky's deep fried chicken. Rather than food, most of the Japanese citizens focus on Christmas presents or how to spend Christmas Eve. The latter means all the couples are supposed to enjoy dating on Christmas Eve with Christmas song and Christmas decoration.
So, all of the singles feel misery just before Christmas or on Christmas Eve.
