We took train for Iwakunki to eat breakfast. In front of the station, we found misterdonut, which is the biggest donut shop chain in Japan. After breakfast, we took train for Tokuyama via Gantoku Line. Our first destination was Kintaikyo, near which Kintaikyo(Historical wooden arch bridge) is located. But, we forgot getting off at the station. Because of the low frequency of trains on the line, we gaveup visiting the bridge. Instead of that, we decided to go to Kyusyu directly by changing trains at Tokuyama and Shimonoseki. Near Suo-kubo station, a big shopping center seems to be located. I think JR West(Operator of this line) should establish a new station at the nearest point to the facility to let more passengers board trains.
We got into Kyusyu and changed trains at Moji to get to Moji-ko, which is the historical harbor. We ate food related with Tetraodontidae, which is a kind of famous fish specific to this area.
And, we visited Kyusyu Railway History Museum.
In the museum
We headed for Yufuin.
Moji-ko→(JR Kagoshima Line)→Kokura→(Kitakyusyu Monorail)→Kikugaoka/Shii-Koen→(JR Hitahikozan Line and JR Kyudai Main Line)→Hita→(JR Kyudai Main Line)→Yufuin
At Yufuin, we ate souvenirs in Oita such as Toriten(Tempura style fried chicken) or Dango-jiru(thick noodle soup).
Yufuin Station
At the end of this day, we got train off at Minami-Yufu to stay at hotel.
