Scientists who specializes in physical theories are known for difficulty of obtaining new results from experiments and writing papers.
But, once they find something new, they will be able to be famous among their fields. And, in this case, among the world.
I guess some people probably say "How can the discovery be useful? Our lives won't be changed by this discovery."
My counterargument against this question is that the discovery can be a key to develop other fields that are related with improving our lives.
In my department, a research group that studies theoretical physics posts the phrases "Studies on theoretical physics are like a baby, whose ability is unknown. The baby can grow up to be a great one. But, we can't predict it beforehand."
