I'm surprised that wage scales in SMRT are based on nationalities. But, probably, SMRT must establish such wage scales because the company has to balance the ratio of foreign workers. When I use the case shown on the linked webpage, average wage in Malaysia is much higher than that in China. If the same wage is applied to all the employees, there will be full of Chinese bus drivers at SMRT.
