EU 'should probe petrol price rise'

Motoring groups across Europe have demanded an investigation into soaring petrol prices. The Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which represents 35m drivers and includes the AA and RAC, has written to the European Union claiming the way prices are set is far from transparent . Petrol prices in Britain raced to record highs last month as the cost of a barrel of crude oil rose above $125. But they have not fallen as quickly as the price of oil has dropped. AA spokesman Luke Bosdet said: motorists are going bust on us. No one is giving us any answers as to why petrol prices are so high. We need greater transparency so that everyone can see we are paying a fair price for fuel. The AA called for an independent regulator to balance the interests of the supplier, retailer and customer. The Petrol Retailers Association, which represents 6,000 independent forecourts in the UK, said a two-tier system was being created because supermarket
s are able to undercut the competition.

British people seems to assume that the cause of soaring petrol prices lie in UK.
But, I think the fact is that the problem derives from political unease in Middle East.
