When earthquake hits areas which have never or seldom experienced earthquake, its damage must be serious. It's because there are more fragile buildings or houses such as mud-walled houses in those areas.
But, it doesn't mean every local government in the world will start to adopt more durable buildings. Whether or not durable buildings will be built depends on financial problems.
Architects will have to invent cheaper ways to construct more durable buildings.
