Vice president of Bangkok announced abolition of Saphan Taksin Station on BTS Silom Line.
According to local newspaper, completion of extension section of the line between Wongwian Yai and Bang Wa may be the reason. It is to enhance operation efficiency by abolishing Saphan Taksin Station, which has been a single track station.
In order to maintain convenience, pedestrian deck so-called "Skywalk" will be constructed between Saphan Taksin Station and Surasak Station before the abolition.
At first, BTS aimed at completion between Wongwian Yai and Bang Wa within 2012. But, flood caused delay of construction. So, the line between Ratchada-Ratchaphruek and Wongwian Yai will be opened on Dec 5, and full extension to Bang Wa will be on Aug 12,2013.

I didn't know Saphan Taksin Station consisted of single track, despite I passed this station last year.
It resembles Meitetsu Nagoya Main Line between Kano and Meitetsu-Gifu, where a single track section is included. Considering high frequency of trains on the line, I guess the section should be changed to double track.
