My friends plan to go to Tokyo to participate in a symposium. Express bus, train, and airplane seem to be choices.
Firstly, they intended to board an airplane. Since Peach, the newest Low Cost Career in Japan, is popular, they plan to use an airline operated by Peach. But, through the Internet, they knew no aircraft flies from Tokyo.
Then, I searched for an airline operated by Jetstar airways. I found a ticket which is 3990 JPY. But the begining day of selling the ticket is after July.
I also searched tickets through websites of major airline careers such as ANA or JAL only to find that no ticket under 10000 JPY is sold.
A friend of them said "Then, how about buying Seishun 18 tickets*1?"
I replied "Let's not. the ticket is seasonal one."
He proposed Shinkansen. But, it costs them a lot of fares.
For the time being, express bus would be the cheapest transportation between Tokyo and Osaka.
But, they haven't yet decided how to go to Tokyo.
*1:Free pass of JR lines for 5 days. But, taking limited express trains is not acceptable.
