The new compulsory Settling-in-Programme (SIP) for first-time maids will be introduced from May 1.
It will be conducted as a one-day course that costs $75 for employers.
Currently, employers pay $7 for their maids to sit the English entry test and $28 for the Safety Awareness Course (SAC).
The SIP replaces the English entry test which has been a bug bear for many first-time maids who find it hard to pass because of their weak command of the language.

One of my teachers said that more and more Japanese will have to look for jobs in foreign countries, because more and more Chinese cheap products are overwhelming management of factories in Japan, and actually some of them have already abandoned.
Then, English skills will be the most important problem as these maids in Singapore.
I wish I would get a job somewhere in the world.
