Sapporo Streetcar line will become a circle line in 2014, and low floor streetcars will be introduced in 2013

Sapporo City Government decided to circularize the line in 2014. Newly constructed section will be along a pavement ,and Tanuki-Koji station will be added on the section. New trains will be also introduced on the next spring

The streetcar line consists of 8.5km and 23 stations, and the average travel time is from 40 to 45 mins. Circularization will be completed by connecting terminal stations, Nishi Yonchome and Susukino. The distance between the terminal stations is about 400m.
While the conventional line runs on central tracks of the roads, the new section will run along the pavement in order to let passengers get on and off streetcars.
Total expense amounts 2 billions Yen.
