The maglev line will connect Shinagawa and Nagoya by 2027.
Before the decision of the route of the line, some troubles happened.
Nagano Prefecture protested to the initially proposed plan because the prefecture wanted the line to pass through Iida, which locates at north of the proposed point. But, considering that the main purpose of the line is to shorten the travel time between Tokyo and Osaka, Nagano Prefecture's plan doesn't seem to be reasonable.
Finally, such a selfish plan was turned down.
When construction of railways, expressways or airports is announced, local governments there hope to let them as near as their areas. They have to take public welfare into consideration.
