In Japan, Korean dramas are popular among middle-aged women, while singer groups consist of girls such as AKB48 are popular among young people under 30 years old.
I think that the main difference between middle-aged women and young people is how Korea looks.
For the elderly people, Korea was further existense than its geographical distance. So, many things from Korea look rare to them.
On the other hand, young people grew up without having difficulty to know about Korea. It led them to regard Korea as merely one of foreign countries. So, many things from Korea are common for them.
