Rather than opening new lines, what I'm much more interested in Guangzhou metro is how many lines are connected with neighboring cities.
So far, Foshan Metro Line 1 is the only metro that has interchange stations with Guangzhou Metro.
But, Dongguan Metro Line 1 is expected to be connected with Shenzhen Metro Line 6 at the east terminus, and also to be connected with Guangzhou Metro Line 5 at the west side. It finally means Hong Kong MTR, Shenzhen Metro, Dongguan Metro, Guangzhou Metro, and Foshan Metro will be mutually connected.
