It will be true that travellers emit much more carcon while traveling with the expansion of global tourism. But, some of the assumptions are dubious.
For example, the quote "It has been suggested that people consume more processed food and go for carbon-intensive transport options, rather than public transport when they travel."
Most of the global travelers will use public transportation in destinated countries, due to limitation of international driver's lisense.
I don't know why the researcher estimated so.
