Istanbul's third airport to gain metro link in November 2019

I wonder why Turkish authority decided to construct the new airport, instead of expanding current Ataturk Airport. Is it because land acquisition is difficult?
Anyway, transportation infrastructure in Istanbul seems to be at its peak.
Marmaray Tunnel, expanding metro networks, and construction of the new airport. It's quite different from Istanbul, which I visited 6 years ago.
