Why is eating drinking?

Hong Kong's best dim sum: How to yum cha like a Cantonese
https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/best-hong-kong-dim-sum/index.html

The last sentence reminds me of how to tell a waiter it's time to pay in English. I've said "Check!" overseas.
But, the article says "closing the bill".
I didn't know the phrase.

Anyway, dim sum is not popular as its name, but famous as Yam Cha(Meaning "Drinking tea")
So, I understood why eating dim sum means to drink tea after reading the article.
