Travel Diary on Oct 2,2013

An immigration officer at Auckland Airport had strict attitude to me.
She asked me "Why do you want to immigrate this country?"
I "Sightseeing"
She "Where are going for sightseeing?"
I "The highest tower in New Zealand"
She "Anything else?"
I "Uhh・・・, You know・・・, Zoo?"
She "OK."

The reason why she asked me many questions must be a number of stamps printed on my passport.
Anyway, I arrived at Auckland International Airport, where I stayed overnight.

Quiet

After accessing Wi-Fi for 30 mins, I slept on a bench at the airport.

On 5:00, I got up and found that there were a lot of people who are going to depart from the airport. I went downstairs and purchased an Airbus Express bus ticket to go to Britomart(CBD of Auckland). I'm surprised at the fact that Airbus Express operates buses for 24 hours. Even in midnight, Buses run at intervals of 30mins.
The bus departing at 5:30 took me to Britomart. But, because it was early in the morning, I could see few people on the streets.

At Britomart station, I purchased Day Pass and boarded a train for Manukau.

I wondered why parts of tracks were electrified, in spite of the fact that only diesel cars are used.
I reached Manukau station. In front of the station, I found a Westfield store. But, it was closed because it was early in the morning.

I returned to Papatoetoe to take pictures of trains including 'Overlander', which is the long-run train connecting Auckland and Wellington. Unfortunately, how long I wait for that, the train didn't come.
So, I gave up taking pictures of it, and soon after departing Papatoetoe, The 'Overlander' and my train passed each other.

According to my guidebook, travellers are supposed to use buses from Britomart to MOTAT, which is the transportation museum. On the other hand, I decided to get there by walking from the station.

It took more than 20 mins to the museum.
Inside the museum, many kinds of cars were displayed.

At the zoo, I felt ashamed because of a number of children with their parents. I thought it was not the place to visit alone.

When I got back to Auckland Port, I found a Japanese couple from Kansai. They also seemed to recognize me as a Japanese.

I went to Auckland Sky Tower. From the tower I could see running freight trains.
