In Japan, because job hunting has become more and more difiicult for college students, companies want to cheat them will appear. The companies are called 'Shu-katsu business'. "Shu-katsu" is the shortened word of 'job hunting'
Though I don't know whether there is a company which caused the same incident, I've heard that some companies hold meaningless lectures and terrify somebody into attending the lectures by saying "You'll fail in job hunting unless you attend the lectures. We have the data that those who have attended the lectures could easily get job".
What we should take care of is to refrain from job interviews which seem to be dubious.
